Tinubu Nominates Six Executive Directors for NMDPRA, Seeks Senate Confirmation

President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), forwarding their names to the Senate for confirmation.

The nominees include three serving executive directors seeking reappointment and three new candidates. If confirmed, they will each serve a five-year term.

The three re-nominated officials are Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director of Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director of Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, for Executive Director of Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, for Executive Director of Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, for Executive Director of Corporate Services and Administration.

Tinubu urged the Senate to consider the nominations promptly, saying the appointments would help ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the authority’s oversight capacity.

The president has also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of statutory processes under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.

In April, Tinubu appointed Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as the NMDPRA’s chief executive.

The nominations and appointments were announced in a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
