President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival is a strong sign that security and stability are improving across Nigeria.
Writing on X after attending the event in Argungu, Kebbi State, the President said more than 50,000 fishermen gathered at Matan Fada.
He described the large turnout as proof that normal life is gradually returning to communities.
The festival’s top prize was won by Mayama Abubakar Usman. His 59 kilogram catch earned him one million naira and two cars.
Organisers later presented the three biggest fish to the President for what they described as a special celebratory meal.
Tinubu credited the success of the festival to coordinated security operations and strong community partnership.
He also pledged continued federal support for states investing in food security, tourism, rural development and infrastructure.
