Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a total budget of ₦68.32 trillion.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the president also approved an extension of the 2025 budget implementation to June 30, 2026.
He said the 2026 budget includes allocations for statutory transfers, debt servicing, recurrent spending and capital projects.
Onanuga noted that capital expenditure accounts for about half of the total budget, reflecting the administration’s focus on infrastructure, security and economic growth.
He added that the extension of the 2025 budget will allow ministries, departments and agencies to complete ongoing projects and fully utilise allocated funds.
The budget takes effect from April 1, with MDAs directed to ensure transparency and efficient use of resources.
The president also commended the National Assembly of Nigeria for its cooperation in passing the budget.
