President Bola Tinubu has called for patriotic Nigerian leaders whose commitment to national development goes beyond personal interests and self-aggrandisement.
Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, made the call at a thanksgiving service held to mark the 70th birthday of former SGF, Boss Mustapha.
He urged public officials and citizens to embrace devotion to public service and the common good as core values, stressing the need for leaders who place national interests above personal ambitions.
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, described Mustapha as a benchmark for integrity in public service and called for greater unity among political leaders in the Middle Belt.
As part of activities marking his 70th birthday, Mustapha donated a library complex to Lutheran University Nigeria in Demsa, Adamawa State.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the former SGF urged Nigerian youths not to allow their humble backgrounds to determine their future, but to use their origins as a stepping stone to greatness.
He said his decision to establish the library was driven by the desire to improve the lives of future generations and contribute to the development of education.
The facility, named the Wesley Mustapha Library Complex, was named in honour of Mustapha’s late father, who was a classroom teacher and later became a headmaster.
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, described the library as a monument to knowledge that would benefit generations of students and scholars across the state and Nigeria.
