Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 27 kidnap victims during coordinated operations in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
The military says the operations also foiled fresh abduction attempts and led to the recovery of rustled livestock and motorcycles.
According to the Joint Task Force, troops responded to credible intelligence on terrorist activities in parts of Sokoto State, engaging the attackers in a gun battle and forcing them to flee.
Six victims were rescued during the operation, while livestock and two motorcycles were recovered.
In another operation, troops and members of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps rescued 10 victims who escaped from their abductors near Badanma community.
On the Gummi Sokoto highway, troops also thwarted an attempted abduction of commuters, rescuing 11 more victims after pursuing the attackers.
The military commended the troops for their swift response and urged residents to continue providing timely information to help security agencies tackle terrorism and banditry.
