Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, have rescued 86 kidnapped victims and arrested 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers during coordinated operations across Borno State.
This was revealed in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday by the Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Col. Sani Uba. He said the operations were part of intensified efforts to clear Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists from the region.
According to the statement, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 OPHK encountered insurgents on Nov. 9 at Dutse Kura, along the Buratai–Kamuya Road, where terrorists were abducting civilians and vehicles.
The soldiers repelled the attack and pursued the fleeing insurgents toward Mangari, overpowering them in a follow-up encounter.
A search of the area led to the destruction of 11 makeshift terrorist structures and the rescue of 86 kidnapped victims, including men, women, and children.
Troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and logistics tricycles, which were later destroyed during clearance operations.
In a separate operation, troops at Mangada intercepted 29 suspected terrorist suppliers heading to Chilaria, seizing vehicles, fuel, tyres, engine oil, gun truck tyres, medical supplies, and large quantities of food and provisions.
Lt. Col. Uba confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops. The Military High Command commended their professionalism and bravery while urging them to sustain the offensive to deny terrorists freedom of action across the North-East.
