Troops Rescue Kidnapped Woman, Recover ₦8 Million Ransom in Plateau Operation

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued a kidnapped woman and recovered ₦8 million ransom in a coordinated operation in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Military authorities said the operation was carried out on Saturday, April 25, 2026, under Sector 9 Shendam following intelligence-led tracking of suspects.

The victim was abducted on April 19 in the Bauna area of Shendam LGA. Acting on intelligence gathered from a detained suspect, troops located her in Padam Forest, Qua’an Pan LGA, where she was rescued unharmed.

The military also recovered ₦8 million reportedly paid by the victim’s family as ransom, which has since been returned.

Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, said the operation highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the region.

“This success reflects our commitment to protecting citizens and dismantling kidnapping syndicates within our area of responsibility,” Oteh said.

He added that the rescued victim received medical attention at the General Hospital in Shendam before being reunited with her family.

Troops are continuing follow-up operations to track remaining members of the kidnapping gang across Shendam and Qua’an Pan LGAs.

The task force urged residents to provide timely intelligence to support security operations.
