U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Iranians to continue protesting against their leaders, saying “help is on its way” as global outrage grows over a violent crackdown.
Rights groups accuse Iranian authorities of killing large numbers of protesters and hiding the scale of the violence through a near five day internet blackout. Iran says it has restored order after days of nationwide protests.
Trump, posting on Truth Social, called on protesters to keep documenting abuses and said he had cancelled meetings with Iranian officials until the killings stop.
European leaders also condemned the crackdown, with France, Germany and the UK summoning Iranian ambassadors, while the EU warned of tougher sanctions.
