Tunji Disu Assumes Office as New AIG of Lagos FCID

Mr. Tunji Disu has officially assumed duty as the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Lagos Annex, Alagbon.

Disu formally took over from the outgoing AIG, Mrs. Margaret Ochalla, during a handover ceremony at the department’s headquarters on Tuesday.

Addressing newsmen, Disu pledged continuity and effective leadership, saying:

"I want to thank you for the cooperation you have given so far. I assure you that we will give our best and continue to work together for the progress of the department.

There is no cause for concern regarding ongoing engagements within the department."

Mrs. Ochalla, who retires from the position, urged the media to extend similar support to her successor.

She expressed confidence in Disu’s leadership, adding, "I am confident in his capacity to lead the department and wish him a successful tenure."

The redeployment of Disu follows a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, on February 2, aimed at strengthening leadership and operational efficiency across the Nigeria Police Force.

Before this appointment, Disu served as AIG in charge of the Special Fraud Unit (SFU), coordinating investigations into complex financial and economic crimes.

He has also held key positions as Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Rivers State Commands.

Disu was elevated to the rank of AIG on March 25, 2025, in recognition of his years of dedicated service and contributions to policing and internal security in Nigeria.
