Authorities in the United Kingdom have announced heightened security measures ahead of the planned state visit of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu next week.
The security arrangements, coordinated by Thames Valley Police and other agencies, include temporary airspace restrictions and increased security presence in and around Windsor, where the visit will take place.
Officials say the measures are part of a broader operation aimed at ensuring the safety of dignitaries, spectators and members of the public during the high-profile event.
The restrictions will extend the existing no-fly zone around Windsor Castle, with the airspace closure expected to run from 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the day of the visit.
In addition, authorities will deploy specialist police units, including armed officers, search teams, mounted police and road policing units. Extensive CCTV monitoring and vehicle security barriers will also be used to strengthen security in the area.
Several road closures and parking restrictions will also be enforced around Windsor from March 17, with possible temporary disruptions to traffic during the visit.
President Tinubu is expected to arrive in the United Kingdom with the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for the state visit hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle.
Security officials say the public has been urged to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activity as preparations continue for the event.
