The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Wednesday evening announced the temporary shutdown of its result-checking portal due to technical issues, just hours after releasing the much anticipated 2025 WASSCE results.
The announcement was made via WAEC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @waecnigeria.
“WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shut down due to technical issues,” the statement read.
“However, the Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours. Please bear with us.”
The unexpected outage sparked frustration among candidates and parents who had been eagerly waiting to access their results, with many voicing concerns online.
WAEC did not disclose specific details about the technical failure but gave assurances that efforts were ongoing to restore full access to the portal.
