WAEC Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results Over Technical Glitch

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily withdrawn the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates following the discovery of technical issues linked to a new anti-malpractice system.

In a statement signed by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, the Council said the suspension of access to results was due to glitches arising from its recently introduced paper serialization system, which was piloted in key subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

“As part of our efforts to curb examination malpractice, the Council implemented a paper serialization system adopted from a national examination body,” WAEC explained. “However, a post-release review revealed technical bugs affecting the released results.”

To correct the identified errors, WAEC has disabled access to the results on its official result-checking portal and promised to restore access within 24 hours.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused candidates, parents, and the general public. This step reflects our commitment to fairness, professionalism, and global best practices in assessment,” the statement read.

WAEC urged candidates who had previously accessed their results to check again after the 24-hour window, assuring that all issues would be resolved transparently and swiftly.

Reiterating its dedication to credible assessments, WAEC called on the public to maintain confidence in its operations and its service to the Nigerian student population.
