Women In Power: What Are The Hindrances In Nigeria?

A deep search into the facts book reveals that there are not many women in positions of power in Nigeria.

With famous personalities like Angela Merkel (German Chancellor), Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (Liberian President), Aung San Suu Kyi (State Councellor of Myanmar) and Michelle Bachelet (Chile President), just to mention a few, carving a niche for themselves in other climes, the notion that women cannot assume top level leadership has been clearly brushed aside.

However, the status quo remains unchanged in Nigeria. Why is this the case and what are the factors working against getting women to ascend to power in the country?

This is what Joyce Onyemuwa sought to find out on the Sunny Side.

For one caller, women may have all the qualities, but they need to fight for the opportunity rather than wait for it to be handed to them.

Watch video to hear a caller explain why women will never rule in Nigeria and why our parents are to blame for this bias.
