Zamfara Gov Lawal Commissions Anka Projects

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Tuesday commissioned major development projects in Anka Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to sustainable development and improved infrastructure across the state.

The projects include the reconstruction and equipping of the Emir’s Palace, the flag-off of the Anka–Abbare Road project, the construction of a new Anka Local Government Secretariat, offices for the Hisbah and Community Protection Guards, and the reconstruction of the Safe School in Anka.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the projects are part of broader efforts to boost economic growth, strengthen public institutions, and improve security and education in the area.

Speaking at the commissioning, Lawal said the initiatives fulfil key campaign promises and are designed to enhance development in rural communities.

“I’m here in Anka to fulfil our campaign promises to the people of Anka Local Government and Zamfara State,” the governor said, noting that the new Emir’s Palace would restore the dignity of traditional institutions and strengthen cultural heritage.

He described the Anka–Abbare Road as a vital route that will improve access to hinterland communities and stimulate economic activities.

“This is an essential route that will enhance economic activity and its multiplier effects,” he said.

Lawal also emphasised the need to improve working conditions for civil servants, saying the new local government secretariat will provide a conducive environment for public service delivery.

On security and social order, the governor said offices for the Hisbah Commission and Community Protection Guards will enhance their operational effectiveness, while the reconstructed Safe School will provide a secure learning environment for students.

“Education is the foundation of society. Our actions aim to create a safe and supportive environment for students,” he added.

The governor urged residents and traditional institutions to support the government’s development agenda and ensure proper maintenance of the facilities.

Lawal further disclosed that additional projects will soon be commissioned in Kaura Namoda and Moriki, while projects in Bungudu, Bukkuyum, and Zurmi are expected to be completed before the end of the year.
