The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Adeogoke M. Fayoade, has urged residents to provide timely information to security agencies, assuring that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property and strengthening public trust.
Fayoade gave the assurance while briefing journalists on the arrest of four suspects linked to a series of armed robbery and burglary incidents in highbrow Lagos estates, following operations by the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command.
He said the intelligence-led operation, carried out in line with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was triggered by a February 4, 2026, petition from residents of Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, over recurring robberies and house break-ins.
Police said operatives arrested the principal suspect, Francis Fidelis, 34, alongside Hassan Atahiru, 43; Ikpi Johnson Ibiang, 30; and Aishatu Seni Ali, 25, at a short-let apartment in Parkview Estate on February 6.
The operation continued until the early hours of February 7.
Fidelis, a resident of Port Harcourt, allegedly rented apartments in gated communities to gain access to targeted estates.
He reportedly confessed to carrying out several robbery operations in Parkview Estate, Banana Island, Lekki Phase 1 and other Lagos Island locations, stealing property valued at over ₦3 billion.
Recovered items include a Mercedes-Benz GLE, a Lexus RX 350, jewellery, mobile phones, tablets and burglary tools.
Police also arrested Atahiru, alleged to be a receiver of stolen items.
He reportedly confessed to buying gold and diamond jewellery and designer watches from Fidelis and moving some of the items to Cotonou, Benin Republic, to evade detection.
Investigators said proceeds from the crimes were used to purchase a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE worth ₦74 million for the principal suspect.
Fayoade said investigations are ongoing and reiterated the command’s resolve to curb criminal activities across Lagos and Ogun states.
