Nigeria's economic system is structured to put the employee at a disadvantaged position.
That's according to Ese Oikhala, an analyst at SBM Intelligence, who was speaking on the prevalence of employees' salaries not being paid when due.
Oikhala, who was speaking on Nigeria Info's Hard Facts, said 'some employers - both in the formal and informal sector - are comfortable owing salaries because they know nothing will be done to hold them accountable.'
She urged employees to 'pay more attention to the agreement they sign with their employers to enable them to fight for their right through the Nigerian legal system.'
