ADC Party Picks '50 Wise Men and Women' to Plan Nigeria’s Future

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially chosen a team of 50 experts to write a new plan for how they want to govern Nigeria.

The group, known as the "Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee," was approved by the party's leaders this week.

The ADC says this new team will help build a "people-centred and forward-looking" plan to solve the country’s problems.

The committee will be led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who is the Chairman.

He is joined by Professor Pat Utomi as the Deputy Chairman and Salihu Lukman as the Secretary.

The team includes 50 people from many different backgrounds, such as former government officials, professors, and technocrats (experts in science or business).

In a statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the committee brings together a "wealth of experience in governance, economic management, and security."

The ADC intends to show Nigerians that it is a "serious alternative platform" for leadership with this move, believing that the country needs new ideas to fix its challenges.

"Nigeria’s challenges require ideas rooted in competence, integrity, and national consensus," the party spokesperson stated. They expressed confidence that the 50 experts will deliver a manifesto that "speaks to the real needs of Nigerians."

The "Wise Men and Women" will be formally started, or inaugurated, on Monday, 2nd February 2026 at 12 noon at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.
