Bolaji Abdullahi, the national publicity secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is trying to make Nigerians believe the 2027 election is already decided.
Abdullahi was speaking to Arise News when he made these comments.
Abdullahi told the hosts that the ruling party wants to create “a situation where everyone will think that there’s nothing we can do.”
He warned this “mindset of inevitability” hurts democracy and said history shows parties long in power still manipulate results.
“As recently as 2007, PDP controlled 31 states…yet the election had to be heavily rigged,” he said.
He argued governors who join the APC do so for convenience, not conviction, and asked whether the party has truly won the hearts of the people.
“What about the people?” he asked.
Abdullahi also pointed out that the African Democratic Congress is building offices across the country and aims to be a real alternative.
He warned that legal moves to weaken opposition parties amount to undermining democracy and called the APC’s tactics “hypocrisy.”
Abdullahi also raised concerns about a possible split over candidate choice in the ADC, calling the “Obi-Atiku conundrum” a serious challenge the party must manage.
