Federal Road Safety Corps Deploys Officers for Easter Patrol

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has begun its nationwide Easter patrol, with a strong focus on monitoring major highways across the country.

The Corps said the operation will concentrate on busy routes known for heavy traffic during the Easter period.

These include key corridors such as Abuja–Kaduna–Kano, Lagos–Ibadan–Ilorin, Benin–Ore–Lagos, and Enugu–Port Harcourt highways.

According to the FRSC, these roads often record high travel volumes during festive seasons, increasing the risk of accidents.

The agency said officers, patrol vehicles and emergency response teams have been deployed along these routes to ensure quick intervention in case of breakdowns or crashes.

It warned motorists that there will be “no room for speeding and overloading,” adding that traffic offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.

FRSC officials advised drivers to obey speed limits, avoid dangerous overtaking and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before travelling.

The Corps also urged passengers to remain alert and report reckless driving, especially on long-distance routes.

The FRSC said it is working with other security agencies to maintain safety and free movement along the highways.

Road crashes tend to rise during festive periods due to increased travel and unsafe driving habits.

The agency said focusing on major routes will help reduce accidents and save lives.

Motorists have been encouraged to cooperate with officials and make safety their top priority while travelling this Easter season.
