ADC Presidential ticket hopeful Peter Obi has said he wants to restore Kano’s economic strength after meeting with key political leaders in the state during Sallah celebrations.
Obi visited former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who hosted Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and former Bayelsa governor Seriake Dickson at his residence in Kano.
Speaking at the gathering, Obi said his visit was mainly for the festive season but also highlighted his plans for development.
“I’m here to felicitate with you… and to pay my respect to our leader,” he said.
He added: “We want to change Kano… we want to bring back the power of Kano,” referring to reviving industries in areas like Bompai and Sharada.
Kwankwaso, who hosted the event, welcomed the visitors and described the meeting as part of the Sallah celebrations.
In a message shared after the visit, he said he was “delighted to host” Obi, Makinde and Dickson, wishing Nigerians “peace, blessings, and prosperity.”

While Makinde and Dickson did not make detailed public speeches at the event, their presence alongside Obi and Kwankwaso has drawn attention.
The meeting is seen as a sign of growing cooperation among opposition leaders.
Obi, however, played down political motives, saying, “Today is not politics; it is the celebration of Sallah.”
Despite this, observers say the gathering has increased speculation about possible alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially given Kwankwaso’s strong influence in Kano and the wider northern region.
