The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Osun State, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, has withdrawn from the elections scheduled for 15th Augusy 2026 and declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Adeyemi-Doro announced his decision Saturday in Osogbo, saying it followed consultations with APGA leaders, members and supporters across the state.
He said he consulted the state chairman, secretary and other senior party officials before reaching an agreement to support Oyebamiji.
“I am here today to declare publicly to the good people of Osun State our allegiance, support, and collaboration as we join His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and the All Progressives Congress,” Adeyemi-Doro said.
He said his assessment of the candidates and discussions with party stakeholders led to what he described as an alignment among progressives.
“At the end of the day, we are all progressives.
"We look forward to a situation where, by the special grace of God, we will deliver Osun State to our governor, Oyebamiji,” he said.
The development comes less than a week before the governorship election, in which incumbent Gov. Ademola Adeleke is seeking another term.
Oyebamiji welcomed the endorsement and promised to accommodate APGA members if elected.
“Thank you so much.
"I appreciate this, and I want to assure you that we will work together to rescue Osun State from the current bad government.
"Your people will be taken care of,” he said.
The APC candidate also said his campaign would continue reaching out to other political parties and candidates.
“I am glad about this development, and we will also reach out to other parties so that we can join hands together to build a greater Osun State,” Oyebamiji said.
The poll is expected to be closely contested, with Adeleke, Oyebamiji and other candidates seeking the governorship.
