PETROAN Congratulates Ojulari on First Year Anniversary at NNPC

The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has praised the head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bashir Bayo Ojulari, for his first year in office.

In a statement released on 3rd of April 2026, PETROAN said Ojulari’s tenure has been marked by “bold reforms, improved transparency, and renewed operational efficiency” in the oil and gas sector.

The group said it has seen “significant strides” in governance, accountability and financial reporting, which have helped rebuild confidence among stakeholders.

PETROAN also praised efforts to revive Nigeria’s refineries, noting the “renewed focus on revamping Nigeria’s refining capacity” through partnerships and planned upgrades.

It said getting government-owned refineries working is key to “achieving energy security and reducing the nation’s dependence on imported petroleum products.”

However, the group said challenges remain, especially in “pricing stability and supply consistency,” and called for stronger engagement with industry players.

PETROAN President Billy Gillis-Harry described the past year as “a defining period that has restored confidence” in NNPCL operations.

He added that improved transparency, including the release of financial reports, shows a shift toward “global best practices” in the sector.

The association urged NNPCL to ensure the quick start of refineries in Port Harcourt and Warri, and to improve collaboration with stakeholders.

It also called for better pipeline security and more crude supply to local refineries to boost production and stabilize fuel supply nationwide.
