Police Confirm Arrest of Four Suspects Over Abduction of Adelabu’s Sister, Twins

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of four suspects linked to the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims, identified as Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her sons, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped on June 3 while on their way to school.

The incident triggered a coordinated search and rescue operation by security agencies across the state.

Police authorities said the suspects were arrested following sustained intelligence gathering and tactical pressure that led to the eventual rescue of the victims during a late-night operation.

Confirming the breakthrough, police officials said the operation involved intelligence-led tracking of the kidnapping syndicate, which had been operating in parts of Oyo State.

A police source said, “The arrest of four suspects is linked to the abduction of the victims and ongoing investigations are in progress to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.”

The source added that “the operation was carried out following credible intelligence and coordinated action by tactical teams working in collaboration with other security units.”

Authorities also confirmed that during the final rescue operation, “two members of the kidnapping gang were neutralised after a gun duel with operatives,” while the victims were rescued alive and unhurt.

The police further assured residents that efforts were ongoing to dismantle kidnapping networks in the state and prevent future attacks.

The command urged members of the public to continue providing credible intelligence to support security operations aimed at curbing violent crimes.
