Sowore Threatens Protest at Aso Rock Over Oyo School Abduction

Human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has threatened to lead a protest to the Presidential Villa in Abuja if the federal government fails to secure the release of schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State.

Sowore reacted to the kidnapping of students and teachers from a secondary school in Oyo, describing the incident as another sign of Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.

He accused the government of failing to protect citizens and warned that public anger was growing over repeated attacks on schools and communities.

Speaking in a video message, Sowore said he was prepared to mobilise Nigerians to occupy Aso Rock if urgent action was not taken to rescue the victims.

“We are going to Aso Rock if these children are not rescued,” he said, adding that citizens could no longer remain silent while kidnappings continued across the country.

The activist described kidnapping as “the new political business in Nigeria” and questioned why children had become targets for criminal groups.

He said the country was facing a serious security emergency that required immediate and decisive action from authorities.

The abduction has triggered widespread concern and condemnation from political leaders, activists and community groups.

Yoruba leader Gani Adams also warned that southwest states must strengthen their security systems to confront growing threats from kidnappers and armed gangs.

Security officials, meanwhile, say they are continuing efforts to secure the release of the abducted students and teachers as pressure mounts on authorities to end the wave of school kidnappings across the country.
