Tinubu Charges Acting IGP Disu to Restore Peace, Strengthen Security Nationwide

President Bola Tinubu has tasked Acting Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu to restore peace and strengthen security across the country.

The directive was given during Disu’s decoration ceremony at the State House in Abuja.

Disu’s appointment follows the retirement of former Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and is pending ratification by the Nigeria Police Council and confirmation by the Senate.

The president said the appointment comes at a critical time and urged the acting police chief to rebuild public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

Tinubu also encouraged Disu to work closely with other security agencies to protect lives and property nationwide.

He called on him to advance the security objectives of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and tackle banditry, terrorism and other criminal activities.

The president commended Egbetokun for his service and urged him to continue offering guidance to his successor.

Among those present at the ceremony were National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside other senior officials and family members of the acting IGP.
