Tinubu Names Yari, Uzodimma to Lead APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council

President Bola Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, appointing former Zamfara Gov. Abdulaziz Yari as director-general and Imo Gov. Hope Uzodimma as secretary.

The composition of the council was announced Saturday in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy.

Tinubu will serve as chairman of the campaign council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be vice chairman.

APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda will also serve as vice chairman, while APC National Secretary Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed deputy and assistant secretaries, respectively.

The council includes several senior political figures and government officials tasked with coordinating the party’s campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Among them are Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe Gov. Mai Mala Buni, who will serve as deputy director-generals for the southern and northern parts of the country.

Sen. Adams Oshiomhole was appointed deputy director-general for mobilisation, while the president’s chief of staff will oversee administration as deputy director-general.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022-2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

Faleke will work with zonal directors covering the six geopolitical zones.

The campaign’s legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, while Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris will serve as coordinating director for media and strategic communication.

Other officials named to the media directorate include Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

The campaign has also appointed five spokespersons, led by Alake, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda serving alongside him.

Segun Dada, who held the same position during the 2022-2023 campaign, returns as director of new media, with Solomon Arowolo as secretary.

Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work toward securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

The president urged the campaign team to highlight his administration’s achievements and convince Nigerians that the government’s economic reforms are putting the country on the path to prosperity.

The formation of the campaign council marks a major step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential contest, as political parties intensify their mobilisation and positioning ahead of the elections.
