FIFA has confirmed that Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy will perform alongside Justin Bieber, BTS, Madonna and Shakira in the first-ever halftime show at a FIFA World Cup final.
The 11-minute performance will take place during the World Cup final on 19th July at New York New Jersey Stadium, marking the first time FIFA has introduced a Super Bowl-style halftime show at its biggest match.
The event is being produced with Global Citizen and curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the show will celebrate football, music and education.
"When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education," Infantino said.
"We are proud to have Justin Bieber joining Madonna, Shakira and BTS to co-headline the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and our mission to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world."
Shakira, who will perform with Burna Boy on the tournament's official anthem, described the event as a landmark moment.
"It will be pretty historic," she said, adding that she was excited to be part of the first halftime show in World Cup final history.
According to FIFA, Burna Boy, renowned Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus and Coldplay will also appear during the performance, which aims to raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The initiative seeks to generate $100 million to expand access to education and football opportunities for children around the world.
Burna Boy's inclusion is another major global milestone for Nigerian music.
He is expected to perform "Dai Dai," the official song of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Shakira before a global television audience expected to number in the billions.
The halftime show is set to become one of the most-watched music performances in history.
