Harry Kane says winning the UEFA Champions League remains a major ambition, despite becoming the first Englishman in 25 years to win the men’s Ballon d’Or.
The Bayern Munich striker made the admission in the pre-match press conference of Bayern Munich's UEFA Champions League clash with Atlético de Madrid, just days after receiving football’s most prestigious individual award at a ceremony in London on Oct. 26, ending England’s wait since Michael Owen won it in 2001.
Kane, 33, beat a strong field that included Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and eight-time winner Lionel Messi.
The top five in the voting were Kane, Mbappé, Yamal, Rodri and Messi, respectively.
Speaking about his ambitions after the historic achievement, Kane made clear that he still wants to win Europe’s biggest club competition with Bayern.
“I still have a lot to achieve in this game.
"The Champions League, at club level, and to win a major trophy with England is the No. 1 priority for sure,” he said.
The England captain added that winning the Ballon d’Or was beyond what he had imagined.
“I'd say a dream come true but it's beyond my wildest dreams, so just incredible,” he said.
Kane scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country during the 2025-26 season, helping Bayern win the Bundesliga and German Cup.
He also scored 14 goals in the Champions League, but Bayern were eliminated in the semifinals by eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.
The striker also captained England to the World Cup semifinals, scoring six goals before the team finished third.
His Ballon d’Or victory makes him the fifth Englishman to win the award, joining Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Owen.
Kane has now set his sights on adding European and international honours to his growing list of achievements.
