NFF Targets Newcastle Striker William Osula in Push to Boost Super Eagles Squad

The Nigeria Football Federation has opened talks with Newcastle United striker William Osula as it seeks to strengthen the Super Eagles with dual-national talent ahead of upcoming competitions.

According to a report from Danish Sports media, the NFF has approached the 22-year-old forward over a possible switch of international allegiance from Denmark to Nigeria.

Osula, who was born in Denmark to a Nigerian father, remains eligible to represent both countries and is yet to make his senior debut for the Danish national team.

A Danish journalist, Farzam Abolhosseini, said the striker is now faced with a major international decision.

“William Osula is in the situation where he has to choose between Denmark or Nigeria,” he said.

He added that Nigerian officials have already made contact with the player’s camp.

“Tipsbladet can reveal that the Premier League striker has been contacted through his backroom staff by the Nigerian Football Association,” Abolhosseini said.

The NFF’s move is part of a broader strategy to recruit players of Nigerian descent born abroad in a bid to improve squad depth and competitiveness.

Osula has impressed in recent weeks for Newcastle United, scoring key goals in the English Premier League, and is regarded as a promising long-term attacking option.

Denmark coach Brian Riemer has also praised the forward’s qualities.

“He has exceptional top-level skills with his speed,” Riemer said, adding that the striker “is really good at coming in and changing football games.”

Nigeria is expected to intensify efforts to secure Osula’s commitment as the Super Eagles prepare for future international assignments.
