Team Nigeria has departed its pre-Games training camp in Aberdeen for Glasgow as the country steps up preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which begin on Thursday.
The first batch of Nigerian athletes and officials left Aberdeen on Tuesday after completing a three-week training programme at the Aberdeen Sports Village.
A second batch is expected to arrive at the Games Village on Friday to join teammates already in Glasgow.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) said the camp had provided athletes with world-class facilities and enough time to prepare for the competition.
NSC Director General Bukola Olopade urged the athletes to remain focused as they begin their medal chase.
"You are not just representing yourselves.
"You are carrying the hopes of over 200 million Nigerians," Olopade said.
"Go out there, compete with courage, discipline and determination."
The commission expressed confidence that Team Nigeria is ready to challenge for medals across several events after weeks of intensive training.
Earlier, athletes at the Aberdeen camp said they had "no excuses" after benefiting from top-class facilities and support ahead of the Games.
They said the preparations had boosted their confidence and readiness for the competition.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will run from 23rd July to 2nd August in Glasgow, with about 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories competing in a streamlined programme of 10 sports.
Nigeria is expected to feature in athletics, boxing, swimming, weightlifting, wrestling and other events as it seeks another strong showing at the Games.
