Tinubu Takes 2027 Re-election Campaign to Akwa Ibom, Rivers

President Bola Tinubu will begin a two-state visit to Akwa Ibom and Rivers on Friday as the All Progressives Congress intensifies efforts to secure support for his 2027 re-election bid.

Tinubu will first visit Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, to commission infrastructure projects completed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration before attending a political rally.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the projects include the new International Terminal Building, International Airport Hospital and Ibom Aviation Village at Victor Attah International Airport.

Other projects scheduled for inauguration include the Airport-Okopedi Road, Ring Road 3, the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, Command and Control Centre and ARISE Palm Resort.

Eno has declared Friday, November 6, a work-free day to allow residents to welcome the president.

The governor urged residents to turn out for the visit, saying: “On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, and the distinguished Senate President, our leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, we urge all Akwa Ibomites to come out en masse to give the President an overwhelming reception.”

Tinubu will then travel to Port Harcourt on Saturday, November 7, for an APC rally, which will be his third since he launched his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.

The presidential spokesman said the visits would provide opportunities for Tinubu to meet political stakeholders, party members and supporters.

“The visits will also give President Tinubu opportunities to engage with political stakeholders, party members, and supporters while emphasising unity, political stability, and a shared commitment to national progress,” Onanuga said.

The campaign activities follow the defection of Eno from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in June 2025.

Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara also joined the ruling party in December 2025, strengthening the APC's political presence in the South-South region.

Tinubu's planned appearance in the two states comes as the ruling party steps up preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
