Journalist and public affairs analyst Olalekan Ige has criticised the Judiciary, warning that the court's conduct puts Nigeria’s democracy in danger. He expressed concern about how political cases move faster than civil and criminal cases.
Speaking on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts, Ige noted that political parties receive quick rulings while civil and criminal matters remain stuck for years. He questioned why political matters get swift attention while many other cases face long delays.
Ige called for a public debate on the issue. He stated that this conversation should precede any discussion about conflicting court rulings, stressing that the current pattern weakens trust in the courts.
Ige also clarified that the Federal High Court is not above the State High Court. He explained that both courts stand on the same level, adding that only the Appeal Court can settle the PDP dispute if both courts issue different rulings.
