The National Investment Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Dr. Austen Sado, has reacted to the Federal Government’s plan to halt the salary of striking varsity workers.

A recent meeting between the union and the Federal government had failed in resolving the impasse which led to the shutdown of the nation’s tertiary institutions for months.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities had embarked on a warning strike citing government's inability to meet its demands.

Dr. Sado while speaking on Hard Facts with Dayo Elusakin said what is happening in the education sector is case of class struggle. He claimed that the controversial IPPIS or UTAS payment platforms is not the challenge but rather government’s inability to meet ASUU’s demands is a deliberate attempt to destroy the education sector.

Sado therefore called on Nigerians to join the union in resisting a total collapse of Nigeria's universities.
