Caller highlights role of social media for silenced voices amidst regulation calls

A Nigeria Info Hard Facts caller has argued that social media serves as an alternative for Nigerians who cannot express themselves freely on traditional media.

He said this while reacting to President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila’s recent comments about social media in Nigeria.

Osita, referring to how callers on Nigeria Info are always asked to stick to the facts and avoid spurious and unsubstantiated claims, said people are not allowed to “say things the way they are.” He believes this makes social media a place for them to vent.

He however noted that he is “not entirely against regulation,” but is quite uncomfortable with those calling for it.

“You've got to be honest about this regulation,” he said.
