An academic and public affairs analyst, Dr Isaac Uwadiunor, says education must be about genuine learning, not forged certificates, stressing that going through school and earning a real degree is what matters.
Speaking on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts, Dr Uwadiunor reacted to the recent launch of a Federal Government database aimed at tackling fake degrees. He noted that the first step to success is having an open mind about the initiative. In his words, “a clear conscience fears no accusation.”
He also raised concerns about illegal institutions parading as study centres. He gave an example where someone in Port Harcourt could receive a certificate from an Ondo State university that has never been verified.
Dr Uwadiunor expressed optimism about the database project, saying it could help restore confidence in the country’s education system if properly managed.
