Uchechi Ogadinma, a former media aide to the Ahoada West Local Government Area Chairman, alleged that she was assaulted alongside her mother by the LGA Chairman, Eugene Ekpelle.

Ogadinma said the incident followed a video she posted on social media showing the poor condition of the Community Secondary School in Odioku. In the post, she tagged social media influencer VDM, the Rivers State Government, the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and some members of the House of Representatives.

She alleged that shortly after the video gained attention, the Chairman ordered his brother to attack her. According to her, she was beaten and nearly strangled during the incident. She claimed the Chairman said no action would be taken against him as long as he remained in office. Ogadinma said she was later rushed to the hospital for treatment after her mother called the neighbours for help. She described the experience as traumatic.

Reacting to Ekpelle’s denial of ordering the assault, Ogadinma said she contacted his Press Secretary, Dennis Ezeuwa, who told her he was carrying out his duties. She confirmed that she has reported the matter to the police and that investigations are ongoing.
