Security analyst Efe Wanogho in a recent analysis shed light on President Bola Tinubu’s recent appointment of security chiefs.

Wanogho, speaking on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts with Kalada Batubo, compared the appointments to former President Muhammadu Buhari's trust in the individuals he appointed to key positions.

Particularly, Wanogho cites retired Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai's prolonged tenure as the Chief of Army Staff, highlighting Buhari's unwavering confidence in his service chiefs. Wanogho argues that Buhari's trusting nature led to poor security decisions.

“One problem I think he had, he was known to be too trusting of those he put in office”, he said.

While he acknowledges that adopting a federal character approach in the recent appointments may appear favourable on the surface, the accurate measure of effectiveness lies beyond mere optics.

Wanogho further emphasizes the significance of Nuhu Ribadu's appointment as National Security Adviser. According to the analyst, this crucial role needs a person with a diverse skill set and critical thinking abilities.
