A caller has criticised society for failing to promote education, saying recent restrictions on social media reflect parental failure and a lack of readiness for growth, adding that banning social media does not solve the problem.
Speaking on Hello Port Harcourt with Jude Omamegbe, the caller raised concerns about the intellectual development of Gen Zs, suggesting that hard work and good conduct are not truly rewarded in society, a situation he said discourages intellectual growth among the younger generation. The caller compared the heavy attention and funding given to entertainment shows such as Big Brother Naija with the less support for educational programmes like Cowbellpedia, a televised mathematics quiz.
He further questioned how much effort parents put into supporting platforms that improve their children’s intellectual development, stressing the need to engage Gen Zs and Gen Alphas through thoughtful conversations and meaningful content to stimulate critical thinking and strengthen intelligence.
