Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally joined the Accord Party, days after resigning from the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
In a statement released Tuesday evening, Adeleke declared Accord as his “new platform for victory” ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election in Osun.
He explained that he joined Accord on November 6, 2025 — after extensive consultations with stakeholders — as the party whose welfare‑focused ideology aligns with his government’s commitment to citizens and workers.
Adeleke thanked PDP for the opportunities it had given him as senator and governor, but said persistent leadership crises at the national level forced his resignation. He submitted his letter of withdrawal on November 4, 2025.
With the accession, Adeleke said his mission remains to deliver improved governance and complete ongoing development projects — now under the Accord banner.
The move signals a major political realignment in Osun State ahead of the 2026 polls, reshaping the landscape for both opposition and ruling parties.
