Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries, alleging widespread voter disenfranchisement and electoral malpractice.

In a statement issued after the primaries, Amaechi described the results as “concocted” and insisted he would only accept an outcome from a process that was free, fair and transparent.

He alleged that about 80 percent of party members across the country were unable to vote during the exercise.

According to him, the conduct of the primaries contradicted the principles the ADC claimed to uphold in offering Nigerians an alternative political platform.

Amaechi also accused the party of engaging in practices it had previously criticised in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including vote buying, result manipulation and voter disenfranchisement.

He said such actions were unacceptable for a party seeking to position itself as a credible alternative ahead of future elections.
