World-renowned Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, are mourning the death of one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi.
The passing was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the family’s communications team, signed by Omawumi Ogbe.
The statement disclosed that the child passed away on Wednesday, January 7, after a brief illness. He was 21 months old.
Describing the loss as devastating, the family appealed to the public and the media to respect their privacy as they navigate what they called an incredibly difficult and painful period.
They also asked for prayers and understanding while they mourn in private.
The statement added that no further comments would be made, thanking well-wishers and members of the media for honouring the family’s request for seclusion during their time of grief.
