The Adamawa State Government has confirmed a cholera outbreak in Mubi Local Government Area of the State, which has killed ten people and left several others receiving treatment.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Felix Tangwami, confirmed the development in Yola, saying the victims died at home before receiving medical attention.
He said the state government, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation, has taken urgent steps to contain the spread of the disease.
“From the beginning, we have been on top of the situation. Our presence has been there, and this cannot be denied,” Dr. Tangwami said.
He added that 25 patients were admitted as of Tuesday, while others have been treated, discharged, and educated on hygiene practices.
Tangwami urged residents to maintain personal hygiene and called on traditional leaders to encourage people to seek prompt medical care.
