
The death toll from Friday’s building collapse in Yaba, Lagos State, has increased to four
Ibitayo Adenike, the Acting Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, confirmed the figure on Sunday.
She said another male body was recovered from the rubble in the evening, bringing the total number of victims to eight, four dead and four rescued.
The three-storey building, located at No. 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, collapsed around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, trapping several people under the debris.
Emergency responders at the site include the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Building Control Agency, the Nigeria Police Force, and other relevant agencies.
