The Delta State Police Command has arrested more than 100 youths in a raid on a suspected drug cartel in Agbor, amid growing concerns over rising substance abuse among young people.

Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the operation in a post on X on Friday, noting that it was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Edafe said officers recovered large quantities of illicit drugs at the scene. He described the surge in drug abuse among youths as “getting out of hand,” warning that the trend poses a worsening threat to public safety.

He added that the suspects are being profiled, while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement and possible links to wider drug networks.

The police vowed to sustain intensified operations across the state as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug cartels and curb the spread of narcotics.
