The bail hearing of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai will now hold in the first week of June 2026, following an adjournment by the Kaduna State High Court.

Presiding judge Darius Khobo shifted the hearing after earlier fixing April 21 for ruling on the application.

El-Rufai is facing an amended nine-count charge bordering on alleged fraud and abuse of office filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

Speaking after proceedings, his counsel, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the delay, describing it as “unnecessary” and “politically motivated.”

In a separate case, a Federal High Court in Kaduna had earlier granted El-Rufai bail in the sum of N200 million over related corruption charges.

Trial judge Rilwanu Aikawa ordered that he remain in ICPC custody pending fulfilment of bail conditions, including attending all court sittings and refraining from public comments on the case.

The adjournment delays a ruling on his bail in the state court as proceedings continue.
