The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled Operation Go Cashless, a digital payment initiative designed to phase out cash transactions at the nation’s airports, starting with Lagos and Abuja.

In a statement released on Thursday, FAAN said the new system, launched in partnership with Paystack, will take effect from September 29.

Under the initiative, payments at FAAN’s revenue points, including airport access gates, car parks, and VIP and protocol lounges, will now be processed exclusively through cashless and contactless channels.

FAAN explained that the move is aimed at enhancing efficiency, strengthening revenue assurance, and improving the overall customer experience for travelers and airport users.

The agency said the initiative also aligns Nigeria’s airports with global digital payment standards while reducing risks associated with handling cash.

To support a smooth transition, FAAN noted that it has deployed trained brand ambassadors at access gates and terminal areas to assist passengers with onboarding, demonstrations, and inquiries.

According to FAAN, Travelers can also obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at airport access gates in Lagos and Abuja, which can be activated and funded online via www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng.

“The introduction of this secure, modern payment solution underscores FAAN’s commitment to continuous improvement and global best practices in service delivery,” the Authority stated.

FAAN added that the cashless policy will be extended to other airports nationwide in phases.
