The FCT Police Command has issued a heads-up to residents ahead of a planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) FCT Council on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

In a statement on Monday, the police said they fully respect the right of citizens to peaceful protests. But they also warned that some banned groups and other troublemakers might try to sneak in and hijack the demonstration.

According to the command, any such interference could put public safety at risk and disrupt peace in the capital.

To avoid chaos, the police suggested the organisers think about rescheduling the protest to keep everyone safe.

The FCT Police also assured residents that they are committed to protecting lawful activities and keeping the city secure. They encouraged everyone to cooperate with security agencies to help maintain peace.

The statement was signed by SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer.
