Turkish giants Fenerbahçe have sacked Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, just two days after their Champions League playoff elimination at the hands of Benfica.
The club confirmed the decision in a Friday statement:"We are parting ways with Jose Mourinho, who has managed our professional A team since the 2024–2025 season. We thank him for his efforts and wish him success in his future career."
Mourinho’s side lost 1-0 to Benfica on Wednesday, missing out on a spot in this season’s Champions League.
The former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham boss, who took charge in June 2024, becomes Turkey’s second major managerial casualty in less than 12 hours. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also sacked by Besiktas on Thursday after their Conference League elimination.
