The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is stepping up efforts to keep motorists safe on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.
The agency says it will strictly enforce traffic rules to reduce accidents and ease heavy congestion.
Zonal Commanding Officer of Zone 2, Matthew Olonisaye, made the pledge during a visit to the Lagos Sector Command.
He highlighted growing public concerns over traffic jams and accidents along the busy expressway.
“Our main mandate is to enforce traffic regulations to the core, and we expect our officers to carry out that mandate without any laxity,” Olonisaye said. “This is an expressway, and our personnel are on the road 24/7, monitoring activities and engaging with the public, emphasizing the value of life.”
He added that FRSC officers will continue regular patrols and public awareness campaigns to ensure drivers stick to the rules.
Olonisaye stressed that every life on the highway matters, and strict enforcement is key to reducing crashes and fatalities.
