Former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, has commended the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as steps toward placing Nigeria on a path of progress.
Gowon made the remarks after a closed door meeting with the president at the Presidential Villa.
The elder statesman said his visit was to appreciate the president for what he described as the work being done to move the country forward.
He noted that the administration is making efforts across several sectors, including politics, the economy and social development.
Gowon also acknowledged ongoing efforts by the government to tackle security challenges across the country.
He called on Nigerians to support the administration’s policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
Gowon added that the president has the responsibility of looking after the interests of Nigeria in all areas of national life.
